How do you feel about growing up at the
HFC orphanage?
I feel happy about growing up at the
orphanage because I’ve had an opportunity that a lot of
people don’t get. Now, God gives me another family that
loves me. I share an orphanage with many sisters and
brothers and many people who love me, talk to me about
God and his love for us, and help me in everything I
do.I think my life is better because all I need I find
in the orphanage and my life is better too because I
have Jesus in my life. I know He’s my Savior, my Lord,
my love.
How long have you been at the orphanage?
I have lived at the orphanage for 10
years. When I came to the orphanage I was 7 years old
and I remember nothing from before I came. I don’t know
why.
What are your earliest memories from the
orphanage?
I remember my first day at the
orphanage. When I arrived I found some children. They
were little like me and I found some employees too. I
didn’t like my first day because I didn’t know anybody.
What would you like to tell HFC
supporters in the US about yourself?
I wish the supporters of HFC to know I’m
a very good student. I work very well at school. I
love Jesus, and my objective during my life is that I
would like to serve the Lord. And I want them to know
too that I love to share and I think if someone doesn’t
like to share, he’s nothing. Also, I want them to know
I love them all.
What has it been like growing up with so
many brothers and sisters?
For me, it’s very nice to grow up with
many brothers and sisters. I have learned to play, love
them and to help them when they don’t understand their
homework. I explain it to them because I’m their
sister. And when they succeed in their exams, I love
that.
What does it mean to you to have a mom
and dad take care of you?
It’s one of my problems – I don’t have a
mom or dad to take care of me. There are lots of kids on
the streets. They don’t have a mom or dad who take care
of them. It’s a big problem. Now I’m living at the
orphanage and I have moms and dads to take care of me;
I’m very happy. The employees are my mom and dad. They
are doing a great job taking care of us. When we are
sick, they go to the hospital with us. They do good
things for us. I’m doing good things now that I’m older
and they will see that their work is not in vain. I
want them to know I’m very grateful.
What is the hardest thing about growing
up at the orphanage?
I think the hardest thing about living at
the orphanage is when you are at home and you have
nothing to do. You are looking for something that is
fun to do and you can’t find it. Sometimes you want to
go out and have fun but you can’t. I can understand
that because the country’s situation is very bad. A
long time ago, we used to go out, have fun, eat ice
cream with Papi and Manmi (Dr Bernard and his wife).
Now unfortunately, we cannot. I can understand that.
If you could change one thing about the
orphanage, what would it be?
If I could change one thing about the
orphanage, I would change where we live. The place
where we live isn’t very quiet. Sometimes, bandits kill
people. They shoot a lot, but God protects us.
How do you feel about being adopted?
I’m feeling so happy about being
adopted. That’s a big chance that I have received. I
thank God because he allows me and the other kids to
find this opportunity. I’m looking forward to speaking
English very well, studying so hard and each day to have
a special time for me and God. Also to read books
because reading is one of my hobbies.
What will you miss most about the
orphanage when you leave?
When I leave, I will miss most the
children, the teachers, and the employees because they
count so much for me. I will also miss my Sunday school
teachers.
What do you want to be when you are
older?
I would like to be a doctor of psychology
and pediatrics because I love that and because Haiti
needs doctors.
What has God been teaching you?
This year, God is teaching me when I pray
I must believe in Him. If you have faith, He’ll answer
your prayer. He’s teaching me when you believe in Him,
love His words and have faith, Satan can do nothing to
you.
What do you think Haiti needs to become a
better place?
For Haiti to become a better place, first
of all, the Haitians must have this desire and they must
make an effort. Secondly, we must create many jobs and
every month the workers will get their money. Thirdly,
build many schools, houses for the poor, and build
roads. Clean the streets, plant trees, and give the
people ovens and gas to cook so that they will not cut
the trees. Stop the violence, the rape, the kidnapping,
disarm the gangsters and so many other things that could
be good for Haiti.
Thank you so much and God bless you.
Sincerely,
Argentine
