Hello!
My
name is Paulkenson Simpson. I’m from Mirbalais, Haiti
and had lived in the Hope for the Children of Haiti
orphanage since I was 5 years old.
My life at the pension
was a lot of fun. In the pension, there were 60
children (30 girls/30 boys). I had close to ten years
at the orphanage. Now I am living in the US. I was
adopted by Neilani and Douglas Simpson. The reason I
wanted to be adopted is that I wanted to be a regular
child even though my parents won’t be my biological
parents. I did want to have activities and be able to
know life outside the orphanage and to live on my own.
I also wanted to enjoy being in a family because my
mother died and I have never known about my father at
all.
Living in the US is
really exciting. It’s a lot different than it was in
Haiti. There is not a lot of violence as there was in
Haiti, the streets are very clean and the weather is
mostly cold for me. I had never seen snow in my life,
so the first time I saw snow, it was beautiful.
About my English, it’s
one of my problems in the US. I need it for school, for
communication. My first day of school was confusing
because the school was so big and I couldn’t understand
my schedule and when I went to a restaurant it was
difficult for me to say what I wanted to eat if mom or
dad didn’t say it for me. But now everything is
starting to get easy because my English is getting
better.
For my future I don’t
know what I want to do. Everyday I’m trying to think
about it and I’m getting some ideas from mom, dad and me
sometimes. I’m also trying to think about going to a
university after high school. So far, I guess that
everything is okay.
So, I am thanking you
for your help during the time I was in the pension. Your
help gave me a chance for a better future.
THANK YOU!

Hello,
I am very happy to
write about my life. When I was at the pension, it was
great. The children are happy everyday and they love
people who help us at the pension. Everyday the children
pray for the sponsors. For me, Haiti is a great country
but the government was bad and they didn’t want to help
the people who need help. I like Haiti.
In Haiti, everyday
after school we like to play basketball and soccer if
you are done with your homework. We have a lot of fun
after school. When they told me Neilani and Doug want to
adopt, I was very excited because I was going to live in
U.S. When we were praying, we asked God to help Doctor
Bernard and his wife. God helped us and now I am in the
U.S. living my life.
In the U.S. everything
changed - church, school, weather. School is not
difficult for me. I am going good at school. I play
soccer in the fall and Basketball in the winter. I make
a lot of friends at school. My Favorite subjects are
math and history.
I thank God for the
opportunity you give me to live in the United States and
have a family. The family loves me and helps me to be
someone good for the country. I am feeling happy to have
a family and live in the U.S. I am very happy because
I’m adopted.
Thank you,
Ephesien Leon Simpson
