Haitian Mountain MinistriesOur GoalOur goal is to provide a way for American Christians to help their Haitian brothers and sisters. Rather than sending missionaries to that region, we prefer to equip the local people in the Prolongee, Grand Kay region of Haiti to help their countrymen. Our plan is to provide the supplies necessary for our Haitian contacts to go into the mountains and proclaim the gospel and also to supply food and clothing to the people in that region. Our Haitian ContactsThe support that we give will be channeled through L’Eglise Baptiste l’Union Fraternelle (Union Brotherhood Baptist Church) in Haiti. Our main contact people for this ministry are Junior Sinsmyr and the church’s pastor, Jackelin Cantave. Junior is the president of a group within Pastor Cantave’s church called Messengers of Jesus Christ (MJC). MJC’s mission is to travel into the mountains and preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the people living there. Junior and his group go on these mission trips, usually lasting 3-5 days, and knock on doors and proclaim the Gospel message. On a recent trip in July, eight people accepted Christ. Junior is a bold young man who is gifted in this area. He is committed to the Lord and plans to devote his life to serving Him. The Mountain PeopleJunior has a heart for these mountain people. There are a number of missionaries and churches in Port-Au-Prince, but very few in the mountains. Junior’s goal is to bring “Haiti to God.” The Christians of MJC share his vision. Our goal is to help him, by supplying MJC with backpacks, water bottles, food, Creole Bibles and pamphlets. We also want to assist in the training of the people in MJC by funding their Christian education. The OrphansIn addition to providing advice and guidance to MJC, Pastor Cantave also has a heart for the orphans living near his Church. There are currently 50 children depending on Pastor Cantave’s church. We are committed to assisting him in his goal to provide these poor children with “one hot meal per day.” We also want to the see them raised in a Christian community, in which they can be taught “to seek first the righteousness of the Lord.” Our wish is to see these children mature into young adults who reflect the love of Christ to their fellow citizens.
Mission StatementThe mission of the Haitian Mountain Ministry is to glorify God, by expressing Christ’s love to the people of the mountains of Haiti. PurposeIts purpose is twofold; first, to meet their spiritual needs, and second, their physical needs: The first objective is to assist and equip the local Haitian Christians in the Prolongee, Grand Kay region to preach the gospel of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, by lifting them up in prayer, providing material assistance for their ministry, and training them to do missionary work. The second objective is to provide the orphans in that region with the food, clothing and supplies necessary to survive in an impoverished land.
