We organize short-term mission trips for organizations or individuals who desire the life-changing experience of serving in Haiti. Each year, HFC sends an average of 4-8 missions teams. Each team is led by an experienced leader and brings the children much needed food, medicine, and supplies from the U.S. The goal of the HFC Christian Mission Program is to glorify God by responding to His call to love and serve our brothers and sisters in Christ. The specific goal of each team will vary depending on the gifts of the team members, but could include the following:

  • Teaching the children English to supplement their present English classes
  • Construction projects that enhance the school and orphanage facilities
  • Vacation Bible school or other Christian programs for youth in the neighborhood
  • Equipping and accompanying the children on their own Òmission tripÓ into their neighboring village, such as sharing the gospel or helping the elderly
  • Some teams consist of individuals with specialized skills such as doctors or nurses who give medical treatment and vaccinations to the children

If you are interested in joining or planning a short-term mission team in the near future, please contact Tara Kasey at missions@hfchaiti.org.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

  • How long do HFC mission trips last? Most trips range from 8 to 12 days.

  • Where would we stay while in Haiti? HFC will provide a list of several guest houses in the area, most of which are less than 45 minutes from the orphanage.

  • Is the trip for groups only or are individuals allowed to go as well? We will do our best to accommodate individuals who wish to go to Haiti by connecting with groups already scheduled to make the trip.

  • What is the cost of the trip and how have teams done fundraising in the past? The total cost of the trip varies based on the number of team members and the origin of the trip. The increase in fuel prices and airline tickets has had an impact on the cost of short-term mission trips. We estimate the cost per person for a short-term mission trip to range from $2000 to $2300 per person. This amount includes money for ministry or construction supplies to be spent in country. Each team is responsible for its own fundraising. Individuals have found that support letters to friends, family members, and business associates are a positive way to not only raise funds but to receive prayers. Other teams have held successful group fundraisers such as auctions, concerts, bake sales, and dinners.

  • Why should I go on a short-term mission trip with HFC? Being a part of a short-term mission team is truly a life-changing experience. You will witness GodÕs love pouring out on the children and the staff, as well make friendships that can last a lifetime. Individual team members have the opportunity to learn about themselves, strengthen their relationship with God, and truly make a difference in the life of a child.

The children and staff benefit from physical improvements that are made in the facility by visiting teams, receiving hundreds of pounds of much needed food and supplies, as well as the financial resources that teams are able to provide. Each team has varied talents and brings its own strengths and benefits. God works uniquely in each and every person to provide something special during the trip. Most team members find they look at life a little differently upon returning from Haiti, filled with thoughtfulness and compassion as a result of the experience. Many return to our orphanage year after year in order to remain involved and to continue to share their lives with our children. Others become sponsors of one or more of our children in order to directly impact their lives. We hope that you will consider visiting Haiti!
