Meet, Guy François Aurélien, his wife Sonia Petit-Fère and their seven-year-old son, Gamaliel. Guy and Sonia have been the Directors of our children’s home at HFC since October 2017. They are fondly referred to as Papi Guy and Manmi Sonia by the children and staff. Guy and Sonia are an active, dedicated, sensitive couple, committed to the serving the needs of the children and the staff who look to them for their leadership.
Guy François Aurélien was born on December 3, 1984 in Jeremie, the capital of the department of Grand’Anse located in the southern coast Haiti. He has two half-sisters by his father; Nadine A. Charles lives in New York (USA) and Aurélien Bermance lives in Montreal (Canada). Guy was barely six years old when he lost his father who was an officer in the Haitian army. He grew up in Port-au-Prince, where he completed his classical studies, and went on to study civil engineering. In 2016, Guy graduated from the Seminary of Evangelical Theology in Port-au-Prince (STEP) where he obtained a degree in theology (B. Th). Soon after, he was ordained a pastor at Church of God Source of Blessing and is currently the associate pastor. Guy has much experience working with children. He led the youth ministry at his church, and also was a favorite teacher among the students where he taught mathematics, French, and a course on “Culture and Personality”. Guy is currently a guidance counselor at our Marion Austin Christian School.
Guy’s wife Sonia Petit-Fère is the youngest of three children, born on September 13, 1984 in Port-au-Prince. Along with her brother and sister, she was raised in Port-au-Prince where she completed all of her studies, graduating with a teaching degree from Ecole Normale Jardinière in 2008. She has since worked with children, joining the Foyer d’Espoir (HFC) in October 2017. Sonia has always had a big heart for children. As a young girl, she always dreamed of working at an orphanage because of her great love for children, and found fulfillment at HFC.
Guy and Sonia are dedicated to loving, supporting and giving the best of themselves to all of the children at HFC. Their wish by the grace of God is to serve the children and the orphanage so that happiness and hope can flood those hearts and lives that so badly need them.
